Obama’s favorability declines in Ohio poll

In the world of politics, you live a lifetime in a year. Spin the wheel, place your bets. Go ahead, it's legal in Ohio now.

Stolen tobacco products recovered

Youngstown needs to seriously consider placing street cameras everywhere and giving that a try before the city calls in the national guard.

It is getting to that point and with the economy and jobs market teetering and holidays and utilities to pay for, this childs play crime of tobacco will look like the Mickey Mouse game it is and eventually be drowned out by big time major crime sprees.

Its not doom and gloom in Youngstown but this crime looks petty compared to the thugs that have shot up an Eastside Firehouse.

Think Youngstown residents - We have a beautiful city - what action can government take to get a grip on our crime before it grows stronger?

I have ideas-

3 Youngstown teens arrested after chase in Liberty

The fleeing from police youths should have been transported to a Judge, Jury, Executioner, and finally an embalmer. I wonder what the parents have to say.

Folks, the decisions you make early in life [ i.e. the decision to have kids, the partner you choose to marry, your education choices, your choice of friends, etc.. ] determine the character and quality of life for the rest of your life.

I shake my head so often at these less than knowledgeable souls that I should probably wear a neck brace. How is it that some supposed adults don't understand responsibility and how can it come to pass that children believe it to be acceptable to even show off a weapon to strangers - let alone possess a weapon??

BEAM ME UP!!

Ohio man to sell part of major Lincoln collection

Any Lincoln autographs or other items that are a bit more personal than some paintings? Not to sound negative, but I have authentic photographs of Abraham Lincoln. What about one of his personal stove hats or other daily personal item he handled and kept with his person.

I would love to see the collection, however.

Best wishes with the auction :)

Ohio dad arrested for paddling son

I don't know how they define "excessive" but paddling needs to be reinstated to discipline the youth and stabilize the respect and order of society.

The youth must have been paralyzed or become permanently disabled for the Father to have been arrested. What choices are left for parents, especially single parent homes, today if they cannot discipline their out of control kids? -Drop them off at a fire station or hospital permanently with no questions asked?!

This Father in trying to do the proper thing probably didn't know the extent of the paddling and would have sought other disciplinary actions outside of and including paddling if he did.

Time out does not work and any parent knows this. Parents who are opposed to discipline such as paddling are to blame for many of societal ills today and I"ll bet their kids run rampant without conscience today being the miscreant hooligans that they are, destroying the fabric of our city.

That said -

Boardman Taco Bell robbed

Boardman and Youngstown would be a great beginning to a JEDD as it is desperately nearing the point of serious talks.

If violence ever gets to the point that a vigilante starts up to try to keep peace, the police will be powerless to keep control seeing as they have their hands tied tightly already by save the world, tree hugger, take a time out, flaming baby liberalists that have the mentality of a 12 year impulse buying hooligan [did you follow all that?].

Are these the same [Mooney} kids that went to that home in Canfield and beat that Father and Son up that robbed this Taco Bell?

Next time Mayor Jay Williams threatens to cut the police force SOMEONE needs to call the Governors office and request the National Guard come out and keep order.

How else will we, the senior citizens, the responsible home owners, business owners, etc., survive this??

Austintown girl hit by bullet

Thank God the girl and her family are alright. This is another senseless act of violence which residents of the North, East, and South sides have come to live with and now welcome to their world West side.

Drennen is a joke as a 5th Ward councilman - and I could site many circumstances why - So lets see what the 4th and 5th ward councilman have to say about this incident. Beam Me Up! I hope the Vindy keeps track of this story as it seems a senseless act of viloence.

I wonder if any video security cameras from any of the gas stations in that area caught any of the action on tape thereby aiding any investigations.
