"Maybe the idea that city council needs reduced in size needs a closer look!"
Oh yes city council needs to reduce wards and get people in there with intelligence and logic and common sense.
Lots of strings? Maybe alot of ins and outs, but this project could have been a winner, but Annie "son to be a former city council woman" Gilliam RUINED this project!
This is infuriating. A councilwoman who denies jobs to Youngstown and has NO IDEA how to do her job. She is more interested in her self interests with council pay AND her council pension plan than she is for her ward and city.
Skolnick only shaved the top of this investigative iceberg. There is SO MUCH MORE HERE!
No wonder city administrators are unhappy with city council.
"To quote John Leo, "Crucial battles to save a neighborhood must be fought over apparently minor social infractions, well below the threshold of police response. By the time the offenses are great enough to justify police time and effort, the struggle is often lost.” "
"The legislation would make it illegal for kennel owners to abuse or neglect pets.
Those found guilty of doing so could face felony charges, and judges could place prohibitions or limitations on their future ability to operate kennels."
"Identify and eliminate duplicative services or functions on campus. Consider departmental consolidation or elimination and use upcoming vacancies and an early retirement incentive program to strategically realign personnel to reduce overall staffing levels where possible; $100,101 to $500,000 in savings, to be implemented in FY 2012 and financial impact realized in FY 2013 and FY 2014."

@ nojimbo:
"...the chance to make a load of money off of gullible/addicted customers without alot of effort or the production of any real product or service."
Right or wrong, isn't that what most businesses offer / stand for anyway?
If customers are "gullible/addicted customers" then where is their personal responsibility?
If customers allow themselves to be taken advantage of and / or remain an uneducated consumer, then customers ARE NOT being taken advantage of.
Does the old saying "buyer beware" inherently include "personal responsibility is of the buyer?

It's still a "parking ticket" mentality??

@opddad:
"What was the final outcome regarding the Youngstown airport lease deal..by an airport official and his company? Same kind of "situation," wasn't it?"
Please, educate me: What was the situation and whom was involved?
If I reme, ber correctly, wasn't that about the early 1980's?
Thanks.

Youngstown council balks at changing Covelli Centre food vendor
NO, no. Stay the course. Do not buy out the Centerplate contract and do not build an amphitheater behind the center.
Where are we at with finances?
How far have people come to see acts at our center?
Too many questons to get involved without enough upfront answers.

Betras battles the Chamber
@ evreyone who posted bad stuff about unions:
If unions are causing so much strife, then why is it taking our dedicated city firemen 22 years to reach the top rate of pay in their career?
I believe you folks are suffering from MK Ultra disease. Perhaps you folks actually don't know what is reality anymore.

7 to be arraigned in beating of officer
Work NEVER hurt anyone.
Lets get a court ordered sentence for a FEMA work Camp to serve about 77 years of labor.
But I'm not heartless-
Parole eligibility after 73 years.
