Here is a photo gallery to go along with the "Years Ago" photo published in The Vindicator on Sunday April 15, 2018. April 20, 1975: The Youngstown-Mahoning County Bicentennial Commission kicked off events for the nation's 200th birthday in 1976. A ceremony on Federal Plaza in downtown Youngstown marked the bicentennial of Paul Revere's midnight ride in April 1775, which many historians signal as the start of the American Revolution. Members of The Sons and Daughters of Liberty helped re-create a colonial atmosphere for the ceremony. The photos in the album are from 1975.
