County prosecutors released evidence today that would have been used in the Robert Seman case.

After the burns were found on Seman’s face, prosecutors got a warrant to search his Calla Road home in Green Township and found these clothes in the washer. They were sent to the state fire marshal’s lab where testing found gasoline on them.

Make up was found in the car of Robert Seman after he was taken into custody at the Mahoning County jail after his original March 30, 2015 trial date was postponed. Prosecutors said Seman bought the makeup at an Austintown Walgreen’s and applied it to cover the burns, even telling employees that he needed the makeup because a trash fire he was trying to set flared up and he needed to cover the burns for a “jury thing.” Prosecutors have him on store video buying the makeup and also have receipts.

Two days after the fire Robert Seman was complaining of discomfort in the Mahoning County jail and deputies discovered these burns on his face. Prosecutors said they were prepared to have the jail doctor testify that the burns were flash burns which occur when something flammable flashes up. They said when they saw the burns, they were convinced that Seman was responsible for the fire.

These two gas cans were found outside the home of William and Judith Schmidt on Powersway on March 30, 2015, as they battled the fire that killed them and their 10-year-old granddaughter, Corinne Gump. They matched several gas cans that were found in Robert Seman’s garage but did not match any of the gas cans found in the Schmidt’s garage.
