Struthers High School student Nick Locke discussed the results of his Eagle Scout project at a recent meeting of the Struthers Rotary Club. Locke’s project was funded by the Rotary and consisted of building birdhouses for bluebirds to replace those used by the Mill Creek MetroParks system. Locke’s birdhouses were specifically designed to attract Eastern Bluebirds and were made using cedar to extend their longevity. They are used at the McGuffey Wildlife Preserve. More details about the birdhouses may be found at www.millcreekmetroparks.org/visit/wildlife-viewing/. Above, center, Locke shows one of the 25 birdhouses he constructed.
