SPECIAL TO THE VINDICATOR Two Youngstown State University students in Sister Jerome’s Mission College program recently received scholarships for the upcoming academic year. Kevin D. Talley, left, received the Bruce A. Roberts Memorial Scholarship, and Sarah L. Ludwick received the Karen R. Murphy Beatitude House Scholarship. Talley plans to graduate in December with a degree in social work. He served in the U.S. Navy for two years and plans to work with disadvantaged youths and adults. Ludwick also is majoring in social work and is projected to graduate next year. She is a graduate of Beatitude House and is interested in working with families. The students joined the program in August 2016. Sister Jerome’s Mission College is a program of Ursuline Sisters of Youngstown, and its mission is to break the cycle of poverty by helping students from low-income families succeed in college. In addition to providing mentors for students, the program offers financial assistance for food, clothing and transportation. For information call 330-746-6622.
