SPECIAL TO THE VINDICATOR Struthers Middle School robotics team competed in the 2017 North East Ohio Robotics Education Program on March 8 at Youngstown State University. The program is designed to engage and inform students about science, engineering, technology and math studies, and opportunities in those fields. The event featured two games for each team’s designed robot. The first game required robots to race around a track. The second game required the robots to follow a path that consisted of quick, sharp turns. The robot that completed the path the fastest was declared the winner of each game. The SMS eighth grade team completed Game 1 in less than 30 seconds and won third place. The eighth grade team won second place for robot design. Members of the seventh grade team were Peyton Shorthouse, Sean Adams, Sean Lane, Anthony Mudryk, Richard Gulu, Chrissy Craig, Nathan Slaven, Nicolina Pezzone, Asia Rodriguez, Jenna Miller and Xavior Dorf. Members of the eighth grade team were Zada Shively, Hannah Wall, Faith Morlan, Ricky Kosa, Larry Demarco, Grace Persing, Evan Law, Christian Miner, Cayden Agnone, Cayden Creighton, Josh Lowe, Will Morris, Chris Ferrick, Jerron Phips, Chris Lynch, Kegan Wormley and Angel Ortiz.
