SPECIAL TO THE VINDICATOR Maraline Kubik of Sister Jerome’s Mission was the guest speaker at Struthers Rotary Club meeting Feb. 21. Kubik was hosted by JoAnn Sweeney, Rotary president, and Jennifer Johnson. Kubick previously worked as a reporter at The Vindicator and The Business Journal. She has worked as the director of Sister Jerome’s Mission since January 2016. The mission provides assistance to low-income families and college students. The college program supports students at YSU, Eastern Gateway Community College, Kent State and Kent State-Trumbull. Students are paired with mentors who assist in identifying potential funding sources for the program, which includes gift cards and vouchers for food and school supplies. There are 10 students in the program, and they are required to maintain a part-time job while attending school. For information call 330-259-8765, email sisterjeromesmission@gmail.com, or visit www.theursulinecenter.org. Johnson, right, presented Kubik with a book that will be donated to the Struthers Elementary School library in her name.
