SPECIAL TO THE VINDICATOR Mahoning Valley Historical Society recently announced the winners of its fifth annual cookie baking contest as part of Cookie Table & Cocktails that took place Feb. 25. More than 60 bakers participated and entries were judged by community leaders. Category winners are Trevor Jorgenson, youngest baker; Mary Carano and Philomena Tiberio, oldest bakers; Marnie Holcomb, best traditional cookie; Leah Bortz, best twist on a traditional cookie; Christine Burlock, best chocolate cookie; and Shellie DelSignore, best decorated cookie. In the professional division, Holcomb was the overall winner receiving the Judge’s Choice award; Susan Cabot placed first, Christina Benton, second; and Rikki Lynn Winger, third. Tysa Egleton won the Judge’s Choice award in the amateur section, Bortz placed first, Deb Nagy, second, and Rachelle Benchwick, third.
