SPECIAL TO THE VINDICATOR More than 180 Career and Technical Center information technology students from Ashtabula, Columbiana, Trumbull and Mahoning counties recently met for the Business Professional of America Region 11 awards ceremony banquet in the Joyce Brooks Center, Canfield. Helen Slack, information technology instructor and BPA adviser, and 15 of her students from MCCTC won first place in numerous categories to qualify for state competition at the BPA State Leadership Conference in Columbus, March 16 and 17. Qualifiers, in front from left, are Jayden Goddard, Canfield High School, fundamentals of word processing; Aleczander Carbon, Poland, and Aaron Fleming, West Branch, economic research team; Jacob McMurray, Jackson Milton, business law and ethics; Kyle Mamounis, Poland, network design team; and Slack. In the second row are Noah Eynon, Austintown, database management applications; Anthony Mariotti, Lowellville, and Nathan Davis, Western Reserve, website design team; Dylan Mills, Austintown, presentation management individual; and Marty Pavalko, Lowellville, network design team. In back are Nathaniel Dama, Canfield, systems administration using Cisco; Nickolas Thomas, Jackson Milton, website design team; Antonio Magallon, Austintown, database management applications; and Ethan Edwards, Poland, network design team. Isaiah Figueroa, Poland, also placed first in Java programming. BPA is a career-technical student organization with 19 regions in Ohio. Regions are directed by student leadership teams assisted by advisers.
