Youngstown Lions Club 56th annual Turtle Derby raised more than $23,000 for the club’s Youngstown Sight-Saving Fund. The event took place at the Cruising on the River Car Show on East Water Street in Lowellville. Children raced dozens of turtles with races sponsored by local businesses. When the event was finished, the children were permitted to take the turtles home as pets. The Lion’s Club International Foundation’s main mission is sight savings, and the local club donates to many other charities.
