SPECIAL TO THE VINDICATOR Krish Mohip, CEO of Youngstown City Schools, was the guest speaker at a recent Canfield Rotary luncheon. Mohip expressed his compassion for improving education for low income children and his plans to give Youngstown students a chance for success. He came to Youngstown from Chicago where he headed a network of elementary schools serving more than 25,000 children. In Youngstown he wants to raise expectations for students and help build a system to achieve those expectations.

SPECIAL TO THE VINDICATOR Greater Federation of Women’s Clubs, Ohio, Austintown Junior Women’s League recently hosted its January meeting. League member Vicki Redepenning of the London Bridge Women’s Club in Lake Havasu, Ariz., was a guest. Below Genevieve Bodnar, shared how she successfully fought an auto-immune disease and adopted healthier eating habits. Guests at the meeting were treated to baked goods made with spelt grains. SPECIAL TO THE VINDICATOR Gabrielle Jones was recently selected as the State of Ohio Voice of Democracy winner, a speech contest which took place in Columbus and was hosted by the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Jones was sponsored by District 8 VFW Post 1090 and its auxiliary in Warren. The topic given to contestants was “My responsibility to America.” Jones will compete for the national title next month in Washington D.C. Present for the state contest, from left, are William D.
