SPECIAL TO THE VINDICATOR James Kinnick, executive director for Eastgate Regional Council of Governments, was the guest speaker during a recent Canfield Rotary luncheon. Kinnick explained the purpose of the council as a liaison between state and local governments in regard to transportation problems. The council then discusses the issue and establishes recommendations for solutions. Most of the council’s projects involve transport planning and coordination, environmental planning, water quality management, and economic development to attract new businesses. Some of the council’s upcoming projects include improvements to state Route 62, the intersection of Route 46 and Mahoning Avenue, and the Interstate 680 and Route 164 interchange. Canfield Rotary meets at noon every Friday in the Fair Park Building, Canfield.
