Rotary Club of Youngstown President Frank Kishel, left, welcomes Rotary District 6650’s District Governor Mike Raulin to a recent luncheon meeting. Raulin, a Canfield Rotarian, shared his passion for Rotary and outlined his goals for the 2017-18 year. Raulin initially became involved when he was invited by a friend to attend a meeting. He immediately felt a connection with the Rotary International mission and each local club’s objective to make its community a better place in which to live. Raulin encouraged all Rotarians to explore Rotary, share their enthusiasm with others and enjoy the fun, friendship and fellowship it offers.

Descendants of the E.G. and Anna Hood family held their 71st reunion at Diehl Lake. In 1932, E.G. relocated the Ohltown family home up the ridge to Mineral Ridge when the Meander Reservoir was built. Mrs. Hood’s father, Lafayette McCoy, served as a sergeant in the 105th Ohio Infantry during the Civil War and was a casualty of the Battle of Murfreesboro in 1863. He is named on the war memorial in downtown Youngstown. The family celebrated Lelia Hood Sanzenbacher for her upcoming 100th birthday. She is a founding member of the reunion and is a retired from the Austintown school system where she was an elementary school teacher.
