SPECIAL TO THE VINDICATOR The Kiwanis Club of Youngstown donated $1,000 to the Boys & Girls Club of Youngstown at its March 24 meeting. Germaine McAlpine, left, executive director and CEO of the Boys & Girls Club, received the check from Carla Hunter, president of Kiwanis. The Boys & Girls Club works with young people with a focus on helping those struggling with economic, social and family issues. Kiwanis is celebrating its 100th year. Its mission is to serve children around the world. Kiwanis members volunteer and donate to various organizations throughout the year. The Kiwanis Club meets at noon every Friday at the YMCA, 17 N.
