SPECIAL TO THE VINDICATOR The American Association of University Women, Youngstown Branch, recently installed officers for the 2016-2017. From left, are Dr. Melissa Smith, co-vice president of programs; Jorine Stone, president; Kathie Nalepa, treasurer; and Mary Ann Allgood, co-vice president of programs. Denise Walters Dobson will serve as the vice president of membership and Regina Jenkins will serve as the secretary. The mission of the AAUW is to advance equity for women and girls through advocacy, education, philanthropy and research. Membership is open to anyone with an associate degree or higher. The AAUW will meet with representatives of the League of Women Voters Education Committee on Oct. 1 at Kravitz Deli to discuss candidates and issues on the November ballot. The AAUW is nonpartisan and does not endorse any candidate, and the association is dedicated to educating the general public on the importance of voting.
