SPECIAL TO THE VINDICATOR The Berlin Center Historical Society hosted its monthly meeting Sept. 13 at the Weidenmier House. The guest speaker was Roger Kale who spoke about the 1928 Model AA Ford he restored. He also discussed business and farms in the Berlin Center Township from the 1940s to the 1970s. Members attending the meeting were Jeff Craig, left, Roger Kale, Jay Warjacki, Ron Eshler, Dan Thomas and Martha Kale. The society meets on the second Tuesday of every month. Annual membership is $7.50 per person or $15 for a family membership. For information call Denny Furman at 330-565-3365.

SPECIAL TO THE VINDICATOR Green Leaf Inc. of Fontanet, Ind., Tractor Supply Co. and 4-H Youth Development announced Kylie McLean, right, of Salem, as the winner of the 2016 4-H Bright Futures Award. McLean is a member of Goshen Good Growers 4-H Club and was selected for the award in recognition for her project work in dairy. She received a $25 gift card and plaque as the Mahoning County winner from Brian Beck, left, Dairy committee member. The award was launched in Indiana in 2014 and has expanded to Ohio and Illinois to include more than 300 counties across three states.

SPECIAL TO THE VINDICATOR Mike and Mark Sahli presented a $1,500 check to representatives of Angels of Easter Seals. The funds were raised at the Sahlis’ 18th annual M&M Golf Classic which took place Sept. 4 at Mill Creek Park Golf Course. There were 144 golfers participating. The Sahlis founded the classic as a benefit for local charities throughout the Mahoning Valley. Those attending the presentation were Mike Sahli, left; Lynn Sahli, former president of the Angels of Easter Seals; Tim Nelson, president and CEO of Easter Seals and Youngstown Hearing & Speech; Shelly LaBerto, president of the Angels of Easter Seals; and Mark Sahli.
