SPECIAL TO THE VINDICATOR | Salem Regional Medical Center Foundation’s 2016 Hearts and Stars Gala on March 19 raised more than $41,000 for SRMC’s oncology services expansion with approximately 300 attending. The foundation has passed the $1.1 million fundraising goal for its “Community Champions-Expanding Cancer Care Together” capital campaign, which was launched just over a year ago. The Cancer and Infusion Center opened its doors last October and provides the latest advances in technology and comfort while striving to meet the need for locally accessible cancer treatment. Jim Tressel, Youngstown State University president and former head football coach at Ohio State University, was the keynote speaker. Participants enjoyed dinner, gourmet desserts, a silent auction and entertainment throughout the evening.
