Western Reserve Rangers 4-H Club met in March and welcomed Mahoning County Junior Leader 4-H Club Adviser Joe Fagnano as guest speaker. Junior Leader 4-H Club President Janelle Benson joined Fagnano to discuss planned activities for 2016, and 4-H State Ambassador Remi Mikan shared her experiences as a member of the group. Mikan, left, is shown with Benson and Fagnano during their discussion at the meeting. Western Reserve Rangers members also shared news about educational sessions at Quality Assurance, urged participation on the county’s 4-H Fashion Board, reported about the Zika virus, finalized plans for its community Easter egg hunt, offered details from a Mahoning County Junior Fair Board mixer, and recreation leaders hosted two games. Clothing members Kathleen Moser and Janet Majirsky recently purchased patterns and fabric for their 4-H projects and will cut them out Tuesday at the home of Moser. The next meeting of the Rangers will be at 7 p.m. April 14 at the Ellsworth Fire Hall, 6036 S. Salem-Warren Road, Ellsworth.

GFWC Ohio Warren Junior Women’s League recognized 10 Trumbull Country teens for their time, service and dedication to volunteer work in the community during the league’s 46th Annual WJWL Teen Volunteer Awards Banquet. Judges Renee Maiorca, Tony Perrone and Kara Stanford read over 30 submissions from area students who applied for the scholarships. The contestants are high school seniors nominated by school counselors, teachers and community service volunteer directors and leaders. The top 10 teens received a $25 check and gift bag from the Eastwood Mall. Ellie Martin of Howland High School earned the top teen volunteer award and $500; Nash D.C. Timko of Joseph Badger High School won second place, and Mackenzie Jankovich of Lakeview High School won third place; both earned $200. Those attending the banquet included, seated from left, chairman Megan Marino, president Mary Lou Jarrett, Martin, Timko, Jankovich, Maiorca and co-chairman Karen Margala; and standing, Samantha Lashle of Niles McKinley High School, Alexis James of Howland, Emily Capone of Hubbard High School, Sara Baugher of Chalker High School, Brianna Ledsome of Niles, and Jacquelyn Smith and Sabrina Solis, both of Lakeview.
