SPECIAL TO THE VINDICATOR A dedication ceremony for an Ohio historical marker honoring Ernie Hall is open to the public at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Ernie Hall Aviation Museum, 4033 N. Rover Road, Warren. Markers identify, commemorate and honor important people, places and events that have contributed to the state’s history. Ernest C. Hall, a pioneer of early flight, was born near Warren in 1890, was a friend of the Wright Brothers and built his first powered airplane in 1909. He was a civilian flight instructor and trained more than 500 military pilots for combat during World War I. He died in 1972. His monoplanes have been displayed at the National Air and Space Museum — Smithsonian in Washington D.C. and at the National Museum of the U.S. Air Force in Dayton. The Ernie Hall Aviation Museum will be open free of charge after the dedication until 12:30 p.m. For information visit erniehallaviationmuseum.org.
