SPECIAL TO THE VINDICATOR Niles Historical Society will meet at 7 p.m. July 18 in the Westenfield Room at Ward-Thomas Museum, 503 Brown St., Niles. Thomas Holloway, chief engineer at Mahoning Valley Sanitary District will discuss the past and present treatment of water and the plant facilities. Learning the history behind the clean, safe water development for the city and area at Meander Reservoir is necessary to understanding the cost and improvements being made today. More than five-million trees, mostly conifers, were planted at Meander in a five-year reforestation program to conserve its waters and prevent soil erosion. The cost to attend is $5 and refreshments will be served. For information call 330-544-2143.
