SPECIAL TO THE VINDICATOR The summer theme for Girard Historical Society’s open houses is Sports through the Ages. Sally Curl, left, and Carley O’Neill display a boxer’s robe and baseball bat which are part of the summer display at the Barnhisel House, 1011 N. State St., Girard. Hall of Famers from Girard are included in the display that dates from 1913. Fred Faiver, Tony Maiorana, Pat Meyer, Mel and Bill Triplett are a few of the athletes recognized. Girls basketball, archery and early uniforms also are on display. Open house hours are 2 to 4 p.m. the second and fourth Sunday of each month. For information call the society at 330-545-4899.
