SPECIAL TO THE VINDICATOR Junior League of Youngstown sponsored the 22nd annual Pink Ribbon Tea in October at Stambaugh Auditorium. There were 485 guests including breast cancer survivors who attended free of charge. This was made possible by underwriters, sponsors and league members. JLY made a $500 donation in honor of Joanie Abdu to benefit the Joanie’s Promise fund through the Joanie Abdu Comprehensive Breast Care Center at St. Elizabeth Hospital, Youngstown. The donation will be used for women who are under-insured or without insurance and cannot afford the fees associated with a mammogram. For information about JLY, call Paige Rassega, membership chairman, 330-743-2000. From left are Barbara Banks, co-chairman of the tea; Dr. Rashid Abdu, founder of the Abdu Center; and Patricia Greene, co-chairman.
