Habitat will soon include Columbiana County as part of its outreach. Craven explained what Habitat is, how it works and how to become volunteers. SPECIAL TO THE VINDICATOR The Columbiana Women’s Club will host its annual Christmas Home Tour and Luncheon from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Lunch will be served both days from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Victorian Women’s Club, 121 N. Main St., Columbiana. Themed trees and collections will be showcased in each of the five homes on the self-driven tour. Tickets are $20 and are available before the tour at Anne’s Attic, 8 S. Main St., Columbiana; The Willows by Wehr, 702 E. Park Ave., Columbiana; or at the women’s club on the day of the tour. Club members, from left, are Pat Keylor, Donna Bekar and Vaughn Musser. SPECIAL TO THE VINDICATOR At a special ceremony at Ellsworth VFW, Homer Marsh and Daniel King, two WWII prisoners of war, were honored for their service. Marsh, left, of Austintown, enlisted on Dec. 7, 1943, and became a member of the U.S. Army 21st Tank Battalion 10th Armored Division and served in the European Theater. He was captured in Germany and spent 35 days in a POW camp. He was released from service in January 1946. King, of Lordstown, formerly of North Jackson, enlisted in the Army Air Corps in October 1942. He became a flight instructor and was shipped to England and assigned to the 384th Squadron of the 365th Flight Group, where he flew P-51 Mustangs. On his 30th mission, while accompanying a bomber squadron in Germany, his aircraft developed engine trouble and he had to bail out. He was captured and held in Germany until June of 1945.

SPECIAL TO THE VINDICATOR Youngstown Shrine Club President Lou Garland, left, presented a donation of $10,000 from the club to Bob Lee, Shriners Hospitals for Children board of governors chairman. The donation is earmarked for the new EOS micro dose imaging system planned for the Erie facility. The Erie hospital is one of 22 Shriner hospitals throughout North America that provides family-oriented care for children with orthopedic conditions, spinal cord injuries and related treatments. This system uses 85 percent less radiation than most X-rays, and images can be taken in natural positions such as standing or sitting.
