SPECIAL TO THE VINDICATOR Members of McDonald Girl Scout Troop 80344 received the President’s Award for community service as recognition of the group’s 2,866 hours of service in 2014. Local, state and national politicians recently presented the award to troop officials. Troop leader Candace Ward, left, was joined by state Sen. Capri Cafaro of Liberty, D-32; state Rep. Sean O’Brien of Bazetta, D-63rd; Glenn Holmes, mayor of McDonald; Mark Callion of the office of U.S. Rep. Tim Ryan of Howland, D-13th; and Lori Gillespie, assistant troop leader, to celebrate the honor.
