A fundraiser by Boardman High School classes of 1968, 1969, 1970 and 1971 to benefit the new Boardman stadium recently raised $6,200. Having reached and surpassed $5,000 in fundraising, the classes will become members of the Touchdown Club. A check was recently presented at the new stadium by class representatives Edie Davidson ’68, left, Linda Evans ’69, Jan Garver ’71, and coordinator Debbie Chick ’70, to Booster president Bill Bonte.

SPECIAL TO THE VINDICATOR
The Autism Society of Ohio, Mahoning County office, will offer monthly social outings for area families with children on the autism spectrum through its Circle of Friends program. The program welcomes 3- to 18-year-olds to enjoy local activities with peers of similar development, with support provided by trained educators and practitioners. Ages 12 and older will meet on the first Wednesday and 11 and younger on the third Wednesday of each month. Parents and other care providers are welcome to stay and participate in any sessions. Circle of Friends provides children on the spectrum with an environment to build relationship skills essential to maintain healthy friendships. Typical peers without developmental disabilities are welcome, and learn skills like patience, leadership and understanding while also practicing friendship skills. Planned 2015-2016 outings include golf in September; gardening, October; fitness, November; art, December; movies, January; animals, February; health, March; music, April; restaurant, May; picnic, June; mini golf, July; and bowling, August. Memberships in the Circle are $100 per child and are available through Oct. 15. This includes reserved spots on all events, admissions, snacks, a logo T-shirt, monthly newsletter, web-based interaction for older children, facilitated parent discussion at events with potential guest speakers and invitations to additional special events. Salem High School class of 1960 celebrated its 55th reunion. Frank and Molly Copacia hosted an informal dinner for 75 attendees on Aug. 21. Classmates toured the Museum of Transportation and Industry at Salem Historical Society on Aug. 22, with a book signing of “The Road to Columbus,” chronicling the Salem Quaker 1959-1960 basketball team, by author and 1960 alumnus David Hunter. That evening, the group gathered for a buffet dinner at the Salem Golf Club. Entertainment was provided by DJ Just Kelly and alumni Frank Copacia and Pat (Roof) Ellenwood sang for their classmates. Alumnus Tim Birchfield agreed to monitor a Salem High School Class of 1960 Facebook page for interested classmates.
