The second annual Pound the Pavement for Autism took place April 26 at Howland Township Park, 205 Niles-Cortland Road NE, and earned more than $1,000 for the Rich Center for Autism. It was hosted by the National Honor Society of Howland High School and was overseen by coordinators, from left, Emily Morello; Mariah Aivazis; Melanie Carfolo, the Rich Center; Bergen Giordani, the Rich Center; Brooke Rounsley; Marissa Jocola; and Nicole Glunt. The event was part of a service project and leadership requirement of the Norman D. Kepner Chapter of NHS.

Home Savings Charitable Foundation has recently donated $5,000 to Youngstown Area Goodwill Industries for the renovation of the administrative, production and retail areas of the facility. Goodwill works with the disabled, disadvantaged or when they have other barriers to employment. David Spisak and Donna Brodigan, two residents of Vista Center in Boardman, have completed more than 60 jigsaw puzzles in seven months, and Vista framed them and started a gallery. The facility then auctioned the puzzles, raising $300 for Relay for Life.
