SPECIAL TO THE VINDICATOR
Youngstown ARS Composite Civil Air Patrol Squadron recently received the unit citation award for the third time in its history. It was cited for outstanding performance in the missions of the CAP, which are aerospace education, cadet programs and emergency services. Ohio Wing Commander Theodore Shaffer, right, presented the award to the squadron and tied the new streamer to the squadron guidon, while the squadron’s cadet first sergeant Cadet Chief Master Sgt. Ethan Lint held the guidon. More than 150 current and former members are eligible to wear the award on their uniforms. The patrol meets Monday evenings at Youngstown Air Reserve Station in Vienna. The Berlin-Ellsworth Ruritan Club presented the Ellsworth Township trustees with a check for $580 for four new flags that will be displayed in the township. The new flags will hang as banners. Two are American flags and two are Ellsworth flags. Denny Furman, representing the Ruritan Club, presented the check. From left to right are Artie Spellman, trustee; Karen Grittie, fiscal officer; Fred Houston, trustee; Furman; and Bob Toman, trustee.

On July 2, Rotary Club of Youngstown installed officers, who immediately assumed their duties. They are Paul Garchar, left, president; Becky Keck, president-elect; and Bill Lawson, secretary. Also installed were Bob Calvert as treasurer and David Turner as vice president. Board members are Elayne Bozick, Deborah Esbenshade, John Fahnert, Don Foley Jr., Richard Hahn, Elsa Higby, Frank Kishel, Monsignor Robert Siffrin and John Slanina. Esbenshade, former Rotary District 6650 Governor and Youngstown Rotarian, installed the officers.
