The Niles Historical Society will celebrate Heritage Day from noon to 5 p.m. Aug. 3 at the Ward Thomas House, 503 Brown St. Demonstrations and displays will include spinning, chair caning and basket weaving. Heather Merritt will present her Birds in Flight show. She specializes in rehabilitating wildlife, especially birds of prey, and she will have animals with her. Music, food and crafts, as well as games for children, also will be featured. Members of the Heritage Day committee are, from left, Joyce Mahan, Mary Ann McMahon, Sandy Bilovesky and Nancy Malone.

Home Savings culminated its 125 Days of Giving campaign with a presentation to Help Hotline. Only July 11, the bank gave its last $125 gift card to the Help Hotline Crisis Center. Trumbull Retired Teachers Association sponsored its annual spelling bee at the Trumbull County Fair. Students who participated from grade one through eight received a bag of treats. Winning contestants in each age group received trophies. Those who served as judges, seated from left, are Charlotte Jessup, Ruby Hawkins, Kathy Luhaney and Denise DelTondo.
