Southside Duplicate Bridge Club participated in an all-day fundraiser for the Alzheimer’s Association, The Longest Day, June 21, the summer solstice and longest day of the year. The bridge tournament and drawings earned $867, which was presented to Helen Paes, center, development coordinator of the Alzheimer’s Association. Organizers of the event were Donna DeNiro, left, and Elizabeth Goldthwait, club manager, who presented the check. Southside Duplicate Bridge Club is a member of the American Contract Bridge League, whose goal is to exceed $700,000 for the Alzheimer’s Association this year. The Humane Society of Columbiana County will host the second annual Yappy Hour from 5 to 9 p.m. Thursday at The Myrddin Winery, 3020 Scenic Ave., at Lake Milton. Sangria will be the special of the evening; tasting tickets are $20, which include five tastings and an etched logo wine glass. A three-station meal for pets includes a dog-safe beverage for $5. On Saturday, a quarter auction will benefit the HSCC at the Lisbon Eagles, 127 E. Chestnut St. Admission is $5, which includes one bidding paddle. One quarter bid is valued at $10 to $20, and more than 60 baskets will be offered. For information or to buy advance tickets call 330-332-8622 or visit the HSCC Animal Resource Complex at 721 E. A new exhibit will open today at the Salem Historical Society Museum. Through the courtesy of the family, the “Ted Enders Gallery of Wildlife Mounts,” a private collection of more than 48 animals, will be displayed in the featured exhibit rooms through the end of the 2014 touring season. Visitors will be welcomed at the museum, 208 S. Broadway Ave., for Sunday tours from 1 to 4 p.m. There is an admission charge, except for members. For information call 330-337-8514.
