AMVETS Post 44 of Struthers met for its annual Pearl Harbor Day Memorial Observance at 1 p.m. Dec. 7. The guest speaker was Retired Navy Chief John Stiner, who spoke of the history of the events of Dec. 7, 1941. Retired Navy Chief Tony Crespo led the invocation and Pledge of Allegiance. The Austintown Junior Women’s League recently helped serve cookies and cocoa to hundreds of children with Joyce Pogany and the Wickliffe Circle Christmas Committee at the Wickliffe Fire Station. The community Christmas tree was lit, and Santa arrived on a fire truck while the Austintown Fitch Brass Band performed Christmas carols.
