Fourth-grade students at Dobbins Elementary School in Poland recently enjoyed celebrating Pioneer Day, a traditional event for students in that grade. The children dressed as pioneers and participated in many interesting activities throughout the day, such as crafts, games and bread- and butter-making. They learned about pioneers through imitating their daily life. In addition, they performed a square dancing routine for their families. Some of the participants were, from left to right, Alyssa Rapp, Sydney Ohlin, Eliyah Sanchez, Julia Ranno and Hope Sines.

Cadets in YSU’s Basic Peace Officer Training Academy spent a portion of Tuesday learning about the safe and proper use of rifles at the Hubbard Gun Range on Elmwood Drive Extension. YSU’s police academy is said to be Ohio’s only academy to provide that sort of specialized training.
