Home Savings Charitable Foundation recently donated $2,000 to Community Action Agency of Columbiana to support its Stand Down event Saturday. This event offers educational, vocational and substance abuse counseling, housing assistance and veterans’ benefits for low income individuals and veterans, their spouses or children under 18, facing difficult times. Funds will be used to prepare a hot meal for veterans and their families, nonperishable food items for giveaway, paper products, toiletries and personal hygiene items. Austintown Historical Society will host its 25th tea, A Spring Tea, April 27 at Strock Stone House, 7171 Mahoning Ave., Austintown. Seatings are at noon, 2 and 4 p.m. The cost is $14 or $7 for children under 12. Reservations are due before April 19 by calling Joyce Pogany at 330-792-1129. Preparing to enjoy a cup of tea are co-chairwomen Rae Jeanne Mollica, left, and Marge Goldner. General chairwoman for the event is Pogany. There also will be a basket raffle, and winners do not need to be present. Raffle tickets are one for $1, five for $3 and 15 for $5. All proceeds will benefit the Austintown Historical Society.

Renee Walker, left, American Cancer Society Relay for Life specialist, and Tracey Sevenich, Dutch Village Inn representative, recently shared ribbon-cutting honors for the official 2014 Relay for Life Resource Center for Columbiana County. The center is in the Dutch Village Inn in Columbiana and is open seven days a week with information about the Relay for Life events scheduled for the county in June and July. Those interested can pickup brochures, order forms for luminaria tributes and Cleveland Indians vs. Chicago White Sox fundraiser ticket forms. Columbiana’s relay will be July 11 at Crestview football field. East Liverpool’s relay will be June 6, and Salem’s relay will be June 13. For information call 800-227-2345 or visit RelayForLife.org.
