Kelsey Kalasky, a graduate of Cardinal Mooney High School and a senior at Youngstown State University, received a scholarship recently from the Catholic Collegiate Association. The CCA met at Michael Alberini’s Restaurant in Boardman to present the award to Kalasky, who is a business management major. The association, founded in 1927 in Youngstown, awards scholarships annually. Those participating in the presentation were, from left, Barbara Banks, CCA vice president; Cathy Campana, president; Mary Place Thomas, scholarship chairwoman; and Kalasky.

SPECIAL TO THE VINDICATOR
The sixth annual Vision for Veterans 5K race took place May 17, leading runners through historical Harvey S. Firestone Park in Columbiana and into the surrounding neighborhood. Proceeds of the event are planned for a wheelchair ramp for a veteran in need. The top veteran winners are Ed Brainard of Campbell, left, who took third place with a time of 20:28:90; and James Frost of Ohio, who placed first with a time of 18:54:30. Not pictured is Thomas Macri of Edinburg, Pa., who came in second with a time of 19:53:40.
