SPECIAL TO THE VINDICATOR Kiwanis Club of Youngstown awarded scholarships July 12 to six college-bound students from the area. Each received $500. Five will attend Youngstown State University, and all earned grade-point averages of 3.5 or higher. Financial need also was a consideration. Winners, from left, were Marina Bermann of Ursuline High School, Megan Christ of Chaney STEM/VPA, LaTieya Richard of Cardinal Mooney, LaJuan Thomas of East, Allie Klumpp of Youngstown Christian (accepted by her mother), and Travis Filicky of Boardman.
