The Sociedad Mutualista Mexicana, also known as The Mexican Club, met recently at the home of Rachel Flasco, president. Plans were finalized for a picnic July 14 at Craig Beach in Lake Milton. The club will furnish hot dogs and beverages. Attendees should take a covered dish. To sign up call club officer Gloria De Los Santos at 330-799-4038 or Flasco at 330-792-5481. The next membership meeting will be at 4 p.m. Aug. 4. A trip to Columbus is planned for Sept. 10, when a Mexican soccer team will play the U.S. men’s team. Yearly dues are $5, and anyone may join. The club’s goal is to unite residents of Youngstown and its suburbs to develop friendship and understanding, to promote cultural heritage and to perpetuate the honor and good name of the Mexican nationality.
