Fourth-grade students of Holy Family School are standing in front of the Lumen Christi bulletin board. They are, from left in front, Steven Hiner, Caitlin Palusak, Jacob Shogren and Patrick Assion; and, in back, Dominic DeToro, Patrick Howlett, Ava Szalay, Augusta Fox, Payton McMahon, Brian White and Matthew Ranno. The board was designed by fourth-grade teacher Kathy Holsinger to make students and families aware of Catholic identity and faith infused with learning. The new Lumen Christi Catholic School System includes Catholic elementary schools in the Mahoning Valley. In Latin, the name means Light of Christ and is put into practice through daily prayer, regular liturgy participation and the compassion students demonstrate through varied service projects.

Boardman Lions Club will sponsor its 15th annual night at the races fundraiser March 2 at Operating Engineers Hall on McClurg Road. The $10 entrance fee includes an all-you-can-eat buffet sponsored by several area restaurants, beer and a variety of nonalcoholic beverages. Doors will open at 6 p.m., and races begin at 7. Tickets will be available at the door. Shown are event organizers Chuck Rudge, left, and Joyce Mistovich with some of the baskets for the basket raffle and silent auction. Proceeds will benefit the Seeing Eye Pilot Dog program and Coats for Kids Campaign.
