Bo’s Pet Shoppe, 14883 South Ave., Columbiana, is collecting shelter supplies and selling Jeannie Arnoto’s ROCC and Rescue Christmas Carol CDs. Proceeds will benefit the Humane Society of Columbiana County. Items needed are clay kitty litter, paper towels, laundry detergent, all natural pet treats, sensitive stomach pet food, Kong and Busy Buddy pet toys, gift and fuel cards. Donors of these items will receive raffle tickets for a gift basket that will be drawn in January. On Dec. 13, Argus Lodge 545 F&AM of Canfield installed officers for 2014 at its 128th annual installation ceremony. Master of ceremonies was Thomas J. Hallden, and marshals were David Powell and John Craig. Installing officers were Hallden, Russell W. Gillam III, Richard Persic, Elmer Stalnecker, Dan Illeick, Russell W. Gillam Jr., Robert Edwards, Donald Huntley, Dale E. Hawkins and Elmer Foldvary. Cub Scout Pack 114 and the Iron Order Motorcycle Club, Youngstown chapter, donated toys for the Mahoning County CASA/GAL program children. The Mahoning County CASA Program trains volunteers to speak up for abused and neglected children in juvenile court. The Wish Upon A Star gift-giving project, operated by the YWCA of Youngstown, has a goal to put smiles on the faces of homeless and low-income children that the Y programs serve. Individuals and community groups team up with the Y to gather new toys, books, games and clothing for distribution to children in need. Eighty-nine children in the YWCA Housing Program received gifts.
