Ursuline Preschool and Kindergarten in Canfield has begun a Caring is Sharing candy campaign. Two moms, Nicole Billack of Canfield and Kris Oddis of Boardman, came up with a way to give much of the extra candy in their homes to children in need. Sojourner House and the Juvenile Justice Center agreed to accept the surplus. Physicians and staff with Ankle & Foot Care Centers are teaming up with the Salvation Army to collect and distribute shoes to needy families this holiday season. From left are Geri DeCenso, Lisa Troutman and Amy Assion. The podiatry practice is asking shoppers to drop off shoes at collection stations at any of its 18 locations in the Mahoning Valley by Jan. 3. Shoes should be new or nearly new. Acceptable donations range from children’s sizes to adult, both men’s and women’s, and all types of shoes from athletic to dress to casual. Children’s boots are especially needed in winter. Calvary United Methodist Church, 12062 South Ave., North Lima, will host its annual Christmas cookie sale from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Dec. 14. A large variety of homemade cookies will be packaged and sold by the box and tray. Those involved with the project are, front row, from left, Cindy Wessel, the Rev.
