SPECIAL TO THE VINDICATOR
Escape Dance Academy Competition Team of Austintown traveled to Unvasville, Conn., in June to compete for the Starpower World Finals. The studio won 10 national championships and two victory cups. Kelsey Hackstedde, 10, won the national soloist title of Junior Miss Starpower and placed first overall. Chelsea Williams, 8, was first runner-up for Petite Miss Starpower and placed third overall. A victory cup is won when a studio is selected as one of the top five numbers in their division, then they compete in the Battle of the Stars, where they are ranked. All eight of EDA’s eligible routines were selected to participate in Battle of the Stars, and all but one placed in the top three categories. The academy is accepting registrations for its fourth season.
