Jeanne Antol Watson, left, past president of Youngstown Lions Club, is chairwoman of the club’s 51st Annual Turtle Derby. She is with Parker McHenry, center, and Lions President Brian Hughes. The derby is set for 6:30 p.m. June 25 at the Lowellville Car Show downtown. The event includes food, music, prizes, a basket auction, 50/50 drawing and games and face painting for children. The money from the derby goes back to the community. This year the Lions gave money to the Alzheimer’s Association, Boy Scouts, Beatitude House, Easter Seals and many more charities. As a fundraiser for the derby, the Karaoke Gong Show Contest is back for the second year and will take place from 7:30 p.m. to midnight June 23 at the Pink Elephant, 6135 Mahoning Ave., Austintown. Registration begins at 7:30, and awards will be given at 11 p.m.
