The Humane Society of Columbiana County will host a Chips and Dips (microchips and dog-bathing dips) event from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Saturday at their ROCC and Rescue Center, 1825 S. Lincoln Ave., Salem. Pictured from left to right are Stephanie Peterson of the society, Dr. Sarah Hopkins, holding Felix, and Dr. Alicia Boyce. Microchips will cost $20, which will include registration, or $23 for the mini chip, which is perfect for cats and small dogs. Dog grooming, which includes a nail trim, ear cleaning, perfume and bandana, will cost $10 for small dogs, $15 for medium dogs and $20 for large dogs. Veterinarians and groomers have donated their time, so all proceeds can go toward medical costs to animals in the society’s care. From 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. there also will be a ROCC and Reunion Day. Attendees are welcome to take their pets for contests and giveaways. Those who donate shelter supplies such as kitty litter, laundry detergent, latex gloves and gift cards will receive event T-shirts. Gina McQuillian of State Farm Insurance, adjacent to HSCC, will host a rummage sale from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Dairy Queen, also adjacent to the center, will have hot dog and cool treat deals to benefit HSCC.
