Warren Elks present gifts for students: Warren Elks Lodge 295 presented 30 playground balls, four mesh tote bags and two air pumps for the Jefferson K-8 school to Warren Board of Education at this recent board meeting. The presentation was made by, from left Dave Elston, Past Exalted Ruler/treasurer; Robert Ashe, trustee; Cassandra Kush, trustee chairwoman; Bree White, Leading Knight; Shelly Town, Exalted Ruler; and Bill Kush, at podium, Past Exalted Ruler/Lecturing Knight. Also presented were 150 gift cards to be awarded for student achievement at Warren G. Harding High School. The items were purchased with a Gratitude Grant that the lodge was awarded from the Elks National Foundation. The foundation granted more than $15 million last year to help Elks build stronger communities through Most Valuable Student Scholarships, Elks National Hoop Shoot, drug awareness, Veterans Service Commission and Community Investments, including the Gratitude Grants, Promise Grants and Impact Grants. The Elks are second only to the U.S. government in the amount of scholarships awarded to our nation’s students.
