Boardman police and firefighters and the Ohio State Highway Patrol treat a 9-year-old Youngstown boy on the sidewalk of Indianola Road. Highway patrol troopers said the boy was bicycling out of the Family Video Parking lot on the owner of Market Street and Indianola Road when he hit a car traveling east on Indianola around 11 a.m. Tuesday. Troopers said the driver of the car, a 74-year-old Canfield woman, was not injured and no charges are pending against her. The boy, who was not wearing a helmet, was taken to St. Elizabeth Health Center for minor injuries.

Altiere, son of Sheriff  Thomas Altiere, pleaded guilty Tuesday to deception to obtain a  dangerous drug for using deception to obtain prescriptions for  Hydrocodone, a pain medication, from multiple doctors and multiple  pharmacies earlier this year. The Trumbull County Adult Probation  Department will determine whether Altiere qualifies for a program  that would allow him to receive drug treatment in lieu of conviction  on the charge.

Two motorists were sent to the hospital with injuries sustained in a three-vehicle accident on the city’s North Side. The accident occurred about 10:30 a.m. Tuesday on Fifth Avenue by Lora Avenue. The driver of a pick-up truck flipped his vehicle trying to stop after a two-car crash in front of him. Youngstown police didn’t have any information Tuesday afternoon on the accident.

The Niles Historical Society recently received a new 25-foot flagpole and a new flag, thanks to the help of Niles businessmen Alan Miller, general manager at RTI International Metals, and James Williams of Holloway-Williams Funeral Home. A crew from RTI installed the foundation and the pole, and Williams donated the flag. Here, David Dinsmore, left, Bob Mostoller, Bill Dennis, Fred Kubli, Greg Billock and George John display the new pole. Kubli and John are members of the historical society; the others are associated with RTI.

The plaque commemorates the donation of the building to the society by the late Bruce Greenamyer. The building recently was sold and is now owned by Dave and Linda Jones.
