History month celebration: Trumbull County Women’s History Committee is planning a banquet for March 29, 2011, at Packard Music Hall to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Women’s History Month. “Our History, Our Strength” has been chosen as the theme for the event. To prepare for the celebration, the committee and Trumbull County Woman Magazine are asking all women’s organizations in the county to submit historical information. The information will be collected and included in the banquet program and in stories in the magazine. Displaying some of the historic memorabilia they have collected are, from left, Cynde Kennedy, Ann Penman and Theresa E. Salcone, members of the planning committee. Serving the community: Officers who will guide the Girard Junior Women throughout 2010-11 were installed at a recent meeting at Amen Corner. Installed by Martha Altier, at right, were, from left, Bree Quesenberry, secretary; Roberta Lawrentz, president; and Debbie O’Brien, vice president. Also inducted in absentia was Melissa Malone, treasurer.  Anyone interested in joining the club is asked to contact Lawrentz at 330-545-6559. Meetings are the second Thursday of each month at an area restaurant.

Aaron Jackson, a student at Austintown Fitch High School, and teacher's aide Cody Reese plant special pink tulips at Fellows Riverside Gardens in Mill Creek MetroParks. The tulips, planted Tuesday, are called "The Cure" and are meant to raise awareness about breast cancer. About 4,000 of "The Cure" tulips will bloom around the gardens in the spring.
