Lesson in Aeronautics
Thirty five members of Youngstown Civil Air Patrol, ARS Composite Squadron, toured the Goodyear Wingfoot Lake Airship Facility in Suffield on Jan. 31. The group viewed a video on the history of Goodyear’s airships, learned the blimp is made of a rubber-like material about as thick as a rubber band, and viewed a gondola and control surfaces that are being refurbished. From the observation area, they watched as the “Spirit of Goodyear” took flight.
