The Rotary Club of Austintown recently sponsored its annual 4-Way Speech Contest. Those participating were instructed to take the principles of Rotary’s 4-Way Test and apply them to their own experiences. Aseel Ramahi, center, won the contest with her concept of a person with the ability to live in peace within two cultures despite cultural differences. Joining the Fitch High School senior, who will continue the competition at the district level in North Canton on March 20, are, from left, Rachel Solida, Rotary vocational chair, and Brian Laraway, club president.

The students at St. Patrick School in Hubbard raised $1,874.15 for the American Cancer Society by participating in a mini relay that took place in January in conjunction with the celebration of Catholic Schools Week. The students collected donations from sponsors for each lap they walked during the day. The school has raised nearly $10,000 for the American Cancer Society since the fundraiser was initiated four years ago. Students who took part in the event are wearing their official Relay for Life T-shirts.
