A special dog has his day: Dog trainer Aimee Markle, of Youngstown, traveled to Baltimore for a Protection Sports Association working dog competition the weekend of June 5. Markle, who has been training and caring for pets for several years, began training her own dog, Funez, which is pictured, for competition in 2008. Funez, a 3 1⁄2-year-old German Shepherd and Malinois, is trained in obedience and protection. Along with the team’s showing well in the Level 1 competitions, Funez and Markle earned high obedience and high protection for the weekend, competing with dogs of all levels. Markle is the owner and head trainer of Aim High K9 in Youngstown. She trains dogs in obedience and has a boarding kennel. Markle and Funez will train for the next level, PSA 2, with the goal of competing in Columbus in the fall.
