Creative cooking and custom catering by 17 Warren and Howland hosts were featured April 17 during a progressive dinner sponsored by Northeast Ohio Adoption Services as a fundraiser. Organized by, from left, Sherry Sharon and Kim Griffin, board members, the event began with hors d’oeuvres at one home, included the entree at another and ended with desserts, a silent auction, a raffle and dancing to the music of The Look at Trumbull Country Club.

The Junior Group of Goodwill met April 12 at Drake’s Landing in Canfield, where officers who will head the organization in 2010-12 were officially installed. Assuming their duties were, above from left, Sue Miller, vice president; Kathy Gerberry, treasurer; Tina Kinnick, president; and Patty Suchora, secretary. Founded in 1991 by six women, the Junior Group of Goodwill has a membership of more than 50 volunteers who raise funds and serve as ambassadors in the community for Youngstown Area Goodwill Industries.

The 34th annual Brier Hill Scholarship Dinner and Dance will be Friday at Mount Carmel Social Hall, 343 Via Mount Carmel. Doors open at 5:30; dinner will be at 6. The sign displayed above by Kathy Rimedio, scholarship chairwoman, and Ray Greco, committee president, informs the public that a $1,000 scholarship check will be presented to a Youngstown State University student at the event.
