“Once a Cowboy, Always a Cowboy” golf outing raises funds for Chaney Alumni

« Austintown Neighbors

The third annual Once A Cowboy, Always A Cowboy Benefit Golf Scramble will take place at 1 p.m. on Aug. 24 at Mill Creek Golf Course.

This event raises money to be donated to Chaney alumni or their families in times of need. The 2018 event had alumni spanning six decades and generated funds that were distributed to four families.

The cost to play in the OACAAC scramble is $90 per player, which includes mulligans, skins, 18 holes of golf and riding cart, lunch, dinner, drinks (water, soda, beer), golf balls, a grand prize drawing and other prizes. The winning team also qualifies to participate in the 2020 Greatest Golfer of the Valley Scramble Championship. The 2018 winning team of Bob Bernat, Pete Bernat, Peter Bernat and Brad Thornton will play in the 2019 GGoV event at The Lake Club.

Chaney High alumni and friends can sponsor tee signage ($100) or pin flags ($150) or sign up as a corporate sponsor ($500) and receive a golf foursome, recognition on a banner, and a sponsor plaque. Grand sponsorship levels of $1,000 or more are also being sought as well as gift basket and gift card donations to be used in the Cowboy Auction.

The OACAAC board encourages any Chaney alumni who have medical or financial challenges and wish to be considered for support to submit an application for assistance no later than Aug. 1.
